Spring cleaning? Feeling overwhelmed by the contents of your closet?
This might be an answer to that.
Organizers of Yes, Women Can are gearing up for “The Great Purse and Scarf Bash on Sunday, April 9.
The proceeds of this unique fundraiser will be shared by two not-for-profit organizations: 100% Actifs and the Higginson Tower.
“We have been talking about doing this since the last Yes, Women Can event two years ago,” said Sproule.
“Many of us have too many purses or too many scarves, so we thought this was a good way for women to clean out their closets and help local organizations at the same time,” she added.
Here’s how it will work.
Women are being asked to donate purses or scarves that are in excellent condition before April 2, 2017! For each purse that is donated, the donor will receive a $2 voucher towards the purchase of a purse at the Scarf and Purse Booth at Yes, Women Can. For each scarf that is donated, the donor will receive a $1 voucher towards the purchase of a scarf at the booth.
Purse and scarf donations can be dropped off at The Review at 76 Main Street East in Vankleek Hill or at the Trillium Tea Room at 111 Main Street East or at 100% Actifs at 421 Cartier Boulevard in Hawkesbury. All donations must be in by April 2, 2017.
Women with vouchers can bring them to Yes, Women Can where they can use them at the Purse and Scarf Booth to purchase purses and scarves that might be new to them! Note that an admission ticket to Yes, Women Can is required to gain access to this special sale.
If you are planning to donate, please choose items that are gently used. Purses should have a minimum original purchase price of $20.
You will receive your voucher to purchase when you bring in your donated items.
At Yes, Women Can, purses will be offered for sale at the Purse and Scarf booth, for $12 each, or just $10 if you have a $2 voucher. Scarves will be $6 each, or $5 if you have a $1 voucher.
One voucher per purchase is permitted.
100% Actifs is a not-for-profit organization which assists children with after-school programs which include help with homework, healthy snacks and exercise. The organization also offers a vibrant summer camp experience for children.
The Higginson Tower not-for-profit group supervises the tower year-round, hires a summer student and conducts tours and holds special events at the tower, in addition to paying for repairs and electricity.
Admission tickets to Yes, women Can are $25 each. Each ticket entitles the purchaser to $5 off their next purchase of $25 or more at Vankleek Cottage (before tax). Each ticket-holder has a chance to win a Canadian weekend getaway for eight people, including a Saturday evening gourmet dinner cooked by your very own chef!
Ticket-holders will also get a goodie bag, a complimentary beverage and a gourmet snack at Yes, Women Can!
